OK guys my son has placed his order for a 2008 F-150 FX4 and is most likley going to be getting the RIZE 8" Kit he wants to run a 18" wheel but i am getting conflicting info as far as what backspacing and such is needed. Most likely he will be going with either a 18x8.5 or a 18x9 wheel and running either a 37x13.50 or a 38x14.5 tire.

So what backspacing is needed on these trucks?

Most I see in 18" run from 4.5 to 6" of backspacing. Helo recommends 5 3/8" on the 18X9 Maxx6 for instance. I looked at wheelsforless.com that has a search by vehicle feature, real helpful. This is also the place I ordered the Maxx6 for the 97 for.

if hes going to run that 38x14.5 he is going to need a wider rim than 9". i run 12.50's on my 18x8.5 enkei rt6's and that is the narrowest recommended for that tire. so i would think he'd need at least a 10" wide wheel for the 14.50" tire and could get away with the 9" wide for the 13" tire. but thats jsut my 2cents

I would have to say that I would go with a 10 inch wide wheel too. That 14.5 is going to be ballooned on a 9 inch rim.

My main concern at this point is Backspacing.

I need the proper BS before choosing what wheel. I agree that the 9" wide wheel is to narrow for the 14.50 wide tire.

It look like RIZE want BS to be 4.5 and that is very hard to find in wheels in the size range he wants.
